TEST preparation

We are committed to providing you with the highest quality educational courses, designed to help you achieve your personal and professional goals.

Understanding the PTE and Its Assessment Focus
To begin, it's essential to familiarize yourself with the structure of the exam. The PTE comprises 20 distinct question types, including Re-tell Lecture, Summarize Written Text, and Re-order Paragraphs.
Start by listing all the question types. For each type, note down two key points:
1. The skills it assesses
2. Strategies to practice those skills
For example, in the speaking section, you listen to a brief lecture and then summarize it in your own words. The skills evaluated include:

Listening: You must accurately grasp the main ideas presented in the lecture—an essential skill for students and professionals alike.
-
Vocabulary: Instead of merely repeating the lecture, you should paraphrase it in your own terms. This is a common practice in both academic settings and workplace meetings.
-
Pronunciation: Your words must be clearly articulated so that others can easily understand you. Ensure that each word is pronounced correctly and that your sentence stress effectively conveys your intended meaning.

Now that you've identified the skills to develop, consider the following practice suggestions:

- Watch short online videos and summarize them. Platforms like BBC News and TED Talks offer a wide range of videos varying in length and accents that you can use for practice.
- Engage in conversations in English. Listen carefully to what others say and strive to summarize their points briefly. They can provide feedback on the clarity and accuracy of your summary.

Repeat this process for each question type. Discover what each type assesses, then create similar real-life situations to practice regularly. This approach will help you become comfortable with these tasks on the day of the test.

IELTS

What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardized English proficiency test designed to assess the language skills of non-native speakers who wish to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries. It is accepted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities in countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA.

There are two versions of IELTS:

  1. IELTS Academic – For students applying to universities or professional registration.

  2. IELTS General Training – For work experience, migration, or secondary education.

The test evaluates four key skills:

  • Listening (30 minutes)

  • Reading (60 minutes)

  • Writing (60 minutes)

  • Speaking (11-14 minutes)

Scores range from 1 (non-user) to 9 (expert), with most universities requiring 6.0–7.5.
